8/21/2007
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (August 21, 2007)--- Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital (HEMH) along with Developer A.G. Armstrong will participate today in presenting a medical office building proposal to the city commission.
“The proposed medical office building and parking garage would be a significant improvement to the Helen Ellis campus that will benefit both patients and staff,” said Don Evans, chief executive officer of HEMH. “We are excited about the possibility that these improvements would result in additional medical services and hassle-free parking to the people of Tarpon Springs.”
In conjunction with A.G. Armstrong, a three-phase medical office building on land, north of, and adjacent to HEMH will be proposed. The first phase will consist of a 75,000-square foot building and parking garage for physician offices and support facilities. The second and three phase would be future additions of a similar 75,000-square foot space.
“Physicians on staff at Helen Ellis feel that the proposed medical office building will expand convenient local access to healthcare services with the advantage of a close connection to a full-service hospital,” added Dr. Thomas E. Carson, president of the Medical Staff at HEMH. “We also agree that such a facility will help the hospital attract and retain additional physician specialists whose services benefit our community.”
Established in 1927, Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital is a 168-bed acute care facility that serves northern Pinellas County and western Pasco County, offering an extensive range of inpatient, maternity and outpatient services covering the health care needs of all ages. The hospital is part of the University Community Health network of hospitals, which was created to reflect the combined strength and partnership achieved through the union of University Community Hospital (UCH), UCH-Carrollwood, and Pepin Heart Hospital & Dr. Kiran C.
