Erin Possert, RN, is Nurse of the Year
6/9/2008

Erin Possert, a registered nurse serving as Coordinator of Clinical Education, was chosen to receive the 2008 Grace Kleinfeld Award for Nursing Excellence at the May 8th Nurses Week award reception. The annual award is named in honor of Grace Kleinfeld, RN, who set and exemplified a very high standard of nursing excellence during a distinguished 21 year (1960 - 1981) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital. “Erin certainly is deserving of this honor,” said Mike Cadoret, Associate Patient Care Officer. “There was no doubt that she was qualified in her own professional standing and in reflecting the wonderful example set by Grace Kleinfeld.” Erin earned her BSN from Old Dominion Unversity in Norfolk, VA. After graduation and moving to Florida, she began her nursing career here at HEMH in September, 2002. As a staff nurse on the 7th floor, she quickly showed her interest in being a mentor and cheerleader for newly hired nurses. She was tapped by nursing administration to assist in preparation for the 2004 JCAHO accreditation survey. Her work ethic, attention to detail and teaching abilities were noticed by her supervisors. She also extended her professional skills by successfully earning the Orthopedic Nursing Certification. Erin’s peers recognized her qualities as a nurse and a wonderful co-worker. She was chosen as HEMH Employee of the Year in 2004. In 2006, Erin was given quite a challenge with a unexpected transfer to be interim clinical education coordinator. She took up the challenge with her usual enthusiasm and creativity. A few months later, her appointment as permanent Coordinator was an easy decision for nursing administration. “We are very fortunate to have Erin as an HEMH nurse who consistently exemplifies the very best of our profession,” concluded Mike Cadoret.
