Diabetes Care Institute

The Diabetes Care Institute (DCI) is a service of University Community Health and has three locations: University Community Hospital, University Community Hospital - Carrollwood, and Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital. DCI provides comprehensive diabetes management for people in the Tampa Bay area. It is an American Diabetes Association Recognized Program.

Diabetes is a chronic disease with no known cure, but research has shown that proper care and management of blood glucose can greatly reduce the risk of developing complications.

The DCI uses a team approach, with programs staffed by Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) in the specialties of nursing, nurse practitioners, dietitians and exercise specialists. Physicians specializing in diabetes care are an integral part of this comprehensive program.
